Originally from Levittown NY, I currently reside somewhere along the coast in California with my wife/co-author Helen.
A lot of my creativity was born from my lifelong love of science fiction and horror. As a child I grew up on the original Dark Shadows, The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, Doctor Who (which I still follow) and Anime.
A few of my favorite authors are HP Lovecraft, Jane Austen, Robert Asprin, Jodi Lynn Nye, Stephen King, Richard Matheson, Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, Edgar Allan Poe, and so many more.
However, I do not spend all our time sitting behind a desk writing. I like to get out and try new things. We also like to explore new places, sometimes with family or friends. I've gotten plenty of ideas thanks to these adventures. I like to draw from personal experience because I feel it lends a bit of authenticity to a story and its characters. Which is probably why Helen and I still love to attend conventions which involve sci-fi, fantasy, anime, comics, you name it. Yes, we are Geeks and proud of it.
Sounds great. I can use all of the help I can get. THANKS!
I love learning everything that I can. That would great.
Dear Alan, this would be fantastic! There are a lot of us who would like to learn more about this process!
Thanks, this is the kind of thing I needed to hear.
SOUNDS SUPER !!!
ALAN – If you’re interested I’ve got a guest post I do that deals with my transition from writing non-fiction commentaries to writing “I Kissed a Ghost,” which is my first YA Paranormal/Time Travel/First Kiss romance novel.
I’m willing to be your first interviewee.
I love that you always seem to like what I post. 🙂 🙂 🙂
That sounds like a great guest post. Can you send it to me? I’d love to look it over. Because making that transition would be really interesting for a lot of people.

Several online writing groups picked up on it and there were some lively discussions. Pretty positive. It was good information.
Cool.
The more info the better, I say. Thanks for sharing your insight!
Yup, the general opinion here seems to be leaning towards “Go for it…” So I will.
Hi,
Your articles on character development and setting would definitely interest me. Thank you for asking, and I look forward to the articles.
Ciao,
Patti
Glad to hear it Patti. I just added a new entry a little while ago about using the 1st person voice for narratives.
I think that would be great. The guest blogging, your experiences and so forth. Thank you for your willingness to share your expertise!
My pleasure. As the lead character in the “Red Green Show” used to say, “We’re all in this together… I’m pullin’ for you.”
